Indane LPG bookings get cancelled before delivery

Kochi: Customers of LPG supplied by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) are in dire straits. Many of them are getting messages on their mobile phones informing them that their registrations have been cancelled.
This happens when customers in the normal case have to wait for a month or more for a cylinder to be delivered after making the booking over phone. Nobody from the IOC offices to the franchisee picks up the phone to answer the queries of customers.
“When finally I approached the Pooja Gas Agencies at Unichira here, they told me that the messages were generated by the IOC and they were helpless. I did not get any response from the IOC as well. They did not answer my calls or reply to my emails. The gas agency told us that over 3,000 customers had received messages of ‘bookings cancelled’ all because of a snag in IOC’s software. We are running from pillar to post to get a cylinder. This is cruel, to say the least”, said Suresh Kumar from Vazhakkala.
After a week’s struggle Suresh Kumar has now got another booking, but the gas cylinder is yet to be delivered.
Several other customers continue to approach agencies with the same complaint as their attempts to re-book have not succeeded. Despite DC’s repeated attempts to contact local IOC officials and the corporate communication officer, they could not be reached.
